Rear Kitchen Extension – Bebington
A Bright, Modern Space for a Growing Family
This single-storey rear extension in Bebington was designed to transform a cramped
kitchen into an open, light-filled space the whole family could enjoy. The clients wanted to
create a more sociable layout with plenty of natural light, plus a separate utility room that
could be closed off to keep the main living space clutter-free.
What We Did
The existing kitchen was a small 2.5m x 2.5m square just off the dining room, far too tight
for a busy young family. The brief was to create a large, flowing kitchen-dining area that
opened up to the garden, while also adding a self-contained utility room for laundry and
storage.
We extended the rear of the property by 26m², incorporating four Velux roof windows and
full-width bifold doors to maximise light and connection to the outdoors. Inside, we
removed internal walls and prepared the space ready for the kitchen fit-out, including all
plumbing, electrics, and plastering.
The utility room was built into the new footprint with its own door, giving the family the functional space they needed while keeping the main living area clean and open.
A Challenge We Overcame
When we started the groundwork, building control flagged concerns about the soil stability.
Rather than delay the job, we sourced a trusted local piling contractor, coordinated the site
visit, and arranged for the foundations to be professionally piled, keeping the project on
track with minimal stress for the client.
The Result
Once opened up into the existing house, the extension completely changed how the home
felt and functioned. The finished space is bright, spacious, and perfect for family life a big
step up from the original layout.
The client was delighted with the result and even commented on how much they enjoyed
having our team around during the build. Another smooth project completed with pride.
